Articles From The Director

September, 2011
Greetings from Youth Ed.  As most of you are already aware, I have stepped into the role of Youth Ed Director.  I look forward to seeing this program thrive and grow and welcome any ideas or input you may have to share.  As the summer begins to wind down, we focus on the opportunity to educate and inspire the youth of the church.  As we move into September, we will finish up the current curriculum which focuses on the book “The Four Agreements” by don Miguel Ruiz.  These agreements are:

1)      1)        Be Impeccable With Your Word – understanding how important it is to say only what you mean.
2)
Don’t Take Anything Personally – understanding that all opinions are important and valid.
3)
Don’t Make Assumptions – understanding the importance of clear communication.
4)
Always Do Your Best – understanding the importance of doing your best in all situations.

We will end this curriculum with a celebration of “Silly Olympics” on September 18.  Some of the events planned are String Eating 5m, Marshmallow Mouth Stuffing, Paper Plate Discus Throw, Plastic Straw Javelin Toss, Cotton Ball Shot-put and Shoelace Tying.  These events will give each child an opportunity to try their best and put to use the wisdom they have gained from “The Four Agreements” curriculum.

We invite you to hold the vision for a dynamic Youth Education Ministry that explores the power of working together to build a vital and energetic program and to hold the vision of a multigenerational community working together for the common good.

Unity principles tell us to honor the Divine wholeness and wisdom within each one of us, from the smallest child to the eldest member of our community.  We all have unique gifts to share, especially our youth.   I look forward to seeing these gifts manifest in our church and community, bringing abundant blessings to us all.

Blessings and Love,
Traci McCue
