The most critical aspect of the creative process . . . is illustrated by paintings from this period. Allowing a sufficient gestation period for creation of human life is obvious. Yet when creating other aspects of that same life, we want to rush (or skip altogether!) . . . the gestation necessary for whatever we are creating.

We think we know how long it should take!!! . . . Perhaps it would be helpful for us to treat the gestation period of every creation with the same respect we hold for a woman carrying a baby! . . . lots of TLC!

Although there are exceptions, in general the incubation period tends to look like the imagery in these paintings . . . one-dimentional, monotone, at times out of focus . . . yet always a reflection of the essence of life within.

These paintings were created during the years when I was creating my own family . . . I gave birth to three children during this period of time.
