Getting Started With Eufrates
Eufrates creates a database of the web pages that you define through simple fill-in-the-blank forms.
It stores these web pages under your login name, which becomes the key to all your web pages.
Eufrates also writes each web page to your directory, which is http://websyte.com/pub/loginname , with loginname replaced by the 1 to 20 character name you login under. Your web page is instantly accessible to anyone on the web.
Here are the steps to creating a web page with Eufrates.
-
Create a new login name for yourself. This is the name your web pages will be stored under. It can be 1 to 20 characters long, letters and numbers only. You must use a name no one else has used yet. Please keep the name G-rated. The next time you login, you must remember this name and the password, so that Eufrates knows which pages you are working on. You should probably put this in a file on your own computer, because paper gets lost. You also enter your email address, so we can send you messages about Eufrates.
-
Next, you create a web page. Your first web page should be called 'index', because that is the default name for a web page on our server. If your login name is tomejones, your home page name is now http://websyte.com/pub/tomjones/index.htm but you can leave off the /index.htm to make it simpler for people to find you.
-
Next you create items on the web page. Select the web page that you have just created, and create one or more items on the page. Use an item name like "100-introduction"
for your first item. Items will be generated in alphabetic order by item name, so it is a good idea to call them
110-, 130-, etc. so you can go back and add new items between them later.
-
Generate the web page and take a look. Now press the 'Generate' button to have Eufrates generate the web page and display it to you. This also creates the web page on the server. Congratulations! You are web published! The instant you do this, anyone on the web can access your page.
-
Edit and re-generate your page. Chances are, you want to change the way your web page looks. So edit the items, update them, then generate the page again (the actual web page doesn't change until you hit the 'Generate' button. Also, when you go to the actual page with your browser, you may need to hit the 'Reload' button if you have regenerated the page.)
-
Add more pages to your web site. Now create additional pages and link them together, using the item on one page to point to another. You can also copy and paste html from your browser's 'View Document Source' function into Eufrates items. We are also working on a 'mailafile' email system, so you can email us your image files to use on your web pages.
-
Spread the word. Let other people know about Eufrates, the easiest way to get on the Web! Let us know what we can do to improve this service.
