On August 18, 1996, at 10AM, Unity-in-Marin's Sunday Celebration talk will be given by Dr. Deborah Whitehouse on Using Spiritual Science: Putting Mysticism to Work, to be followed at 1PM with a seminar on New Thought Panorama, co-facilitated with Dr. Alan Anderson.
Dr. Whitehouse will provide options and new directions for the New Thought Movement, maximizing your potential, restoring the character ethic, and how to live on the edge without getting cut! Her talk provides a psychological foundation for metaphysical exploration and prepares the base for the Sunday afternoon seminar.
The seminar, from 1PM to 4PM, plans to take you on a Magical Mystery Tour to help solve the mystery of what Unity and the New Thought Movement is really about. Anderson and Whitehouse will define what a 21st century God looks like and whether or not there is anything new in New Thought. They will also explore the differences between New Thought and New Age. This is sure to be a day of blending leading-edge metaphysical thought and theory with the practical psychological impact of metaphysical principles.
Dr. Anderson is Professor of Philosophy and Religion at Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts. In addition to his philosophy Ph.D. from Boston University, he also holds degrees in political science, law and education.
Dr. Whitehouse is an educator, counselor, researcher and musician. She holds a doctorate in educational psychology along with degrees in church music and music history. Her writings have appeared in Unity Magazine and New Thought.
Together, Anderson and Whitehouse are popular speakers, seminar leaders, and co-authors of New Thought: A Practical American Spirituality (The Crossroad Publishing Company). Unity minister Wayne Manning has characterized it as "an important work . . . a super summary of New Thought formation and history . . . groundbreaking . . . should be made part of the materials in Unity's ministerial training program, and other New Thought programs as well."
